CSCS Endorsed Competence Cards are Mandatory in the UK
In the UK, all construction site operatives must hold a relevant and in date 'job' card which is endorsed with the CSCS logo. For the construction industry plant sector, this is either a CPCS or NPORS plant operator card. These cards are now inextricably linked to competence based qualifications (NVQs) which prove that the card holder has demonstrated his/her competency in the workplace.
Prior to 2010, construction site operatives could apply for a CSCS card (or a CPCS/NPORS card) under Industry Accreditation (also known as Grandfather Rights) if they did not hold formal qualifications covering their specific job role.
From 1st January 2020, all CSCS endorsed cards which are renewed under Industry Accreditation (Grandfather Rights) will expire on 31 December 2024 and CSCS will stop issuing Industry Accreditation cards altogether from 30 June 2024. This includes CPCS and NPORS cards which are now be endorsed with the CSCS logo in order for them to be accepted on construction sites in the UK.
After 31 December 2024 all cards issued by CSCS (including CPCS and NPORS) must demonstrate the achievement of a nationally recognised construction related qualification.

Site Safety Audits - Lifting Operations
The Lifting Academy Limited operates across a wide range of industries throughout the UK wherever and whenever lifting equipment is used. Our specialist service includes the assessment of RAMS for safe systems of work for lifting operations when mobile cranes, crawler cranes, tower cranes, lorry loader cranes and other lifting equipment are specified.
Our aim is to help employing organisations to comply with the requirements of UK legislation, especially the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
We carry out on site based audits of mobile crane activities to ensure that all the equipment and documentation is in place as well as ensuring that all the risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are being followed. An assessment of the crane condition and operating skills is also carried out at the same time. This is a recommended best practice for assessing and evaluating the ongoing competence of the lifting operations team on a periodical basis.
